Gaylord Community Schools 

HomecomingThe Gaylord Community Schools (GCS) district covers 265 square miles, serving 3,250 students, and employs approximately 400 people.

• Millage levies: The total school property tax levy is 11.2951 mills on homestead (principle residence) property. This includes debt reduction at 2.41 mills, a sinking fund at 1.1378 mills, intermediate district at 1.7473 mills and state education tax of 6 mills.

The operating millage, which is levied on non-homestead property, is 18 mills.

• Voting precincts: Bagley and Otsego Lake township residents cast ballots at Bagley Township Hall. Chester, Livingston and Dover townships and the city of Gaylord residents vote at the Gaylord Fire Hall on South Wisconsin Avenue. Elmira Township residents cast ballots at the Elmira Township Hall.

• Budget: The district’s Foundation Grant established by state formula for 2009-10 is $7,151 per student. Anticipated expenses are $27,272,207 and estimated revenues are $26,202,182.

The Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools district covers 310 square miles, serving 798 students and employing approximately 107 people.
• Millage levies: The local property tax levy is 6 mills on homestead property and 18 mills on nonhomestead property, plus debt reduction of 2.2 mills.
• Voting precincts: Residents of Precinct No. 1 vote at Charlton Township Hall; residents of Precinct No. 2 vote at Albert Township Hall.
• Budget: The district’s Foundation Grant established by state formula for 2010 is $7,788 per student. General fund operating revenues are estimated at $7,400,046 and expenses are anticipated to be $7,748,658.

University Center & Michigan Technology Education U-Center & M-TEC

M-TEC

• Mission: The University Center at Gaylord provides higher education through academic and career technical training, professional development and lifelong learning
• Services: Students may obtain certifications, college credits, dual enrollment, or associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of fields.
Individuals and businesses may complete non-credit course work, obtain professional development or pursue lifelong learning at the center.
• Instruction: Instruction is delivered through state-of-the-art technology within seven general-purpose, three interactive-television and five computer classrooms. There are two industrial labs focused on the delivery of manufacturing, construction and HVAC career technical training. 
• GED testing and tutoring is available at the University Center. Call 705-3700 for information.
• Location: The University Center is located at 80 Livingston Blvd. in Gaylord. The facility is open six days a week. The building is open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Grace Baptist College 

• Mission: Grace Baptist College, located at 1665 W. M-32 in Gaylord, is an independent Baptist Christian college that operates as a ministry of the Grace Baptist Church, training men and women for Christian ministry.
• Services: Grace Baptist College offers graduate and post-graduate degree programs. Students receive professional training for ministry. Majors are offered in Pastoral Theology, Pastoral Assistant, Graduate of Theology, Evangelism, Christian Counseling, Missions, Secondary Education, Elementary Education and Secretarial Sciences.
