Tractors welcomed at Wellington Plow Day
CRAWFORD COUNTY - Saturday is Plow Day at Wellington Farm, USA, 6944 S. Military Road, southwest of Grayling.
Festivities will get under way with coffee and doughnuts at 7:30 a.m. after which the boys and their toys will scatter to the fields of Wellington Farm to plow.
Lunch will be served at noon and the plowing will continue into the afternoon hours.
Plow Day is an annual event at Wellington Farm, significant to the fact spring has arrived and it's time to begin preparing the farm fields for planting.
The public is invited to visit the farm during the day and watch the plowing. There is no charge to attend, and visitors can also stroll about the park. Those not driving tractors can participate in lunch for a cost of $7 per person.
"Bring your tractor and join the fun,"said Howard Taylor, Wellington founder.
Volunteers for Wellington also are being sought. A series of free open house events have been set up so people can come and visit the farm free of charge.
